Last Saturday's warmth fooled everyone into thinking spring had finally sprung. I know it sure fooled me.. I dug out a mint colored short sleeved shirt, capris and was ready to spend the day by the beach. Once I got down there though, I realized it wasn't quite as warm as I thought it was. Give or take it was still warmer than it had been, but not warm enough to hang out on the beach.
Sunday was the St. Patrick's Day parade in Belmar, which I hadn't gone to since I was younger. Lauren, Nancy, Norma, Hil and I all decided to brave the cold (it was snowing!!!! only flurries, but still! crazy..) and head down to the parade. We got there and stood by 13th ave. Norma, Hil and I lasted about an hour before we couldn't take the cold anymore. We saw firetrucks from different areas of Jersey, some bagpipe players and some interesting folk, so it was a good time while we were there.
I guess winter's not over yet.. dang.

Jess,
St. Patrick's day parades seem to be the same everywhere. We had one on Sunday in the town next to mine, Somerville in Somerset County, and it was the exact same thing. Lots of firetrucks, a bunch of bagpipers playing the standard songs, and some miscellaneous people like girl and boy scouts, and kids who participate in 4H clubs. It was another cold day here too, but it's a tradition for my family to go, so we had to brave the cold. Both my dad's and my grandfather's fire departments send a truck or two, and my father always drives the truck his department sends, so it's always cool to go and watch my dad making all of the little kids happy. And it just figures: the week before, it's at least remotely comfortable, then a few days later, it's practically tropical, but that one Sunday has to be bitterly cold! Glad you had a good time at the parade and didn't end up with any frostbite!

I am so sick of winter as well! Last week it was warm...now it's cold again! I just want to break out my flip-flops and short sleev shirts.
